Summer Holiday Wildlife Clubs 2019

Monday 1st July. 1000-1700.South Queensferry to Craigie Farm Woodland Experience
Mini beasts, tree climbing, off road woodland exploration, staff/wand making, mammal tracking and shelter building. Drop off at ‘the seal’ across from the Hawes Inn at South Queensferry, pick up at Craigie Farm.
Tuesday 2nd July. 1000-1700. Colinton Dell to Balerno cycle Adventure
River dipping, raft building, sweep netting, river art, rope swings, mini beast hunts and river walking. Drop off and pick up at Murrayfield ice rink carpark. Bikes should be brought along in good working order.
Wednesday 3rd July. 1600-2100. Cammo Estate at night time
Grass throwing, grass tunnel/den making, bat detecting, badgers, moth sheets and camp fires. Drop off and pick up at Cammo Estate car park (on Cammo Walk).
Monday 22nd July. 0930-1630. Cramond Island Adventure.
Tidal rock pooling, beach combing, shelter building, BBQ, fire building, island exploring, beach art, mud walking. Drop off and pick up at Cramond foreshore carpark next to Cramond Inn.
Tuesday 23rd July. 1000-1700. River Almond and the Cammo Estate.
River walking, fish catching, stone skimming, tree climbing and the odd deer, buzzard and owl! Drop off at Cramond Brig (Miller and Carter), Pick up at Cammo Estate car park (Cammo Walk).
Wednesday 24th July. 0915-1700. North Berwick. **
Tidal rock pooling, beach combing, swimming, coastal rambling and sand castle building. Drop off and pick up at Waverley station by the main timetable.
Thursday 25th July. 1000-1700. Dalmeny Bushcraft exploration.
Tracks and trails, whittling, fires, shelters and foraging in this amazing wild estate. Drop off and pick up at Miller and Carter (the old Cramond Brig).
Friday 26th July. 1000-1700. The Hermitage and Braids. *
Woodland exploration, bridge building, tree hugging and climbing and loads of wildlife spotting. Drop off and pick up at café on grassy area at St Andrews Square.
Monday 29th July. 1000-1700. Water of Leith ‘Up the river’.
River walking, river dipping, river exploration and river wildlife observing. Drop off at end of Saunders Street, Stockbridge (next to water of Leith) pick up Murrayfield ice rink car park.
Tuesday 30th July. 1700-2200. Corstorphine Woods at night.
Tree climbing, off road woodland exploration, mammal tracking, badgers and bats. Drop off and pick up car park on Clermiston Road North.
Wednesday 31st July. 1000-1700. Explore Dalkeith Country Park. *
River walking, tree climbing, river dipping, old tree exploration, shelter building and full-size raft building. Drop off and pick up at café on grassy area at St Andrews Square.
Thursday 1st August. 0930-1700. Fordell Glen. **
River walking, tree climbing, river dipping, old tree exploration, shelter building, wild berry picking and natural tattoos. Drop off and pick up at Waverley station by the main timetable.
Friday 2nd August. 0930-1700. Aberdour Adventure. **
Tidal rock pooling, beach combing, beach art, stone sculptures and swimming. Drop off and pick up at Waverley station by the main timetable.
Monday 5th August. 1000-1700. The Dalmeny Estate cycle safari.
Explore the beach, woods, fields and hills on your bike. Drop off and pick up at Miller and Carter (the old Cramond Brig).
Tuesday 6th August. 0930-1700. Rosslyn Glen Wildlife Experience. *
River dipping, raft building, ancient tree hugging, deer spotting, stone skimming, staff/wand carving and woodland exploration. Drop off and pick up at café on grassy area at St Andrews Square.
Wednesday 7th August. 0930-1700. Awesome Aberlady Bay. ***
Butterfly catching, caterpillar collecting, deer spotting, beach combing, and beach art, sand dune jumping. Drop off and pick up at café on grassy area at St Andrews Square.
Thursday 8th August. 0930-1700. Bonaly experience. *
Deer spotting, bone collecting, staff/wand carving, dam building, woodland exploration, mini beasts. Drop off and pick up at café on grassy area at St Andrews Square.
Friday 9th August. 1700-2200. Dalmeny beach at nighttime.
Fire building, bread making, raft building, teepee making and sunset watching. Drop off and pick up at ‘the seal’ across from the Hawes inn, South Queensferry.
Monday 12th August. 1000-1700. The Pentland Hills. *
Cairn building, butterfly chasing, wild berry picking, natural tattoos and mountain art. Drop off and pick up at café on grassy area at St Andrews Square.
Tuesday 13th August. 1000-1600. Inchcolm Island. ****
Rock pooling, beach art, island exploration, castle exploration, swimming, beach combing and necklace/bracelet making. Drop off and pick up at ‘the seal’ across Hawes Inn, South Queensferry.

 

Costs for summer clubs are £27 per child per activity for first 5 activities booked, then £25 per child per activity after that.
Children must be aged 8+ to attend. Teenagers welcome too!
* clubs require £1.60 bus fares on the day please.
** clubs require a £4 train fare added to cost
*** Aberlady trip requires a £5 bus fare on the day please
**** Inchcolm Island trip requires a £7 boat fare added to cost please.

Payment should be made a week before first club is due to start. Cheques should be made payable to Earth Calling. Bank transfer is available on request.

Please make sure that your children are dressed appropriately for the Scottish weather and individual clubs. We recommend that spare clothes, towel and waterproofs are a permanent feature of their wildlife club back packs.
