Lothian and Borders Badger Group newsletter

February 8th, 2012 | Category: Featured, News

Previously only available to members of the group, the revamped quarterly newsletter can now be read on the Earth Calling website! We’ll put it up about a month after it’s sent out to members (this one is a bit late), with a few sensitive details edited out but pretty much complete. A good read for anyone interested in this mysterious but captivating mammal! It includes updates from the local coordinators of all areas of the Lothians and Borders, as well as social events and other articles from our members.

Despite the fact that badgers are common and widespread, they’re also one of the most persecuted animals in the country, which is part of the reason why we try to keep tabs on them. We are coming up to the worst time of year for badger baiting, so if you notice any unusual activity at a badger sett please get in touch with your local coordinator (contact details on the newsletter!) who can give advice.

If you’re interested in them, know of setts you could keep an eye on, would like to get involved in some badger surveys or have a story to tell, let us know! The local group website is here. We also have a youtube channel, which should grow a bit in the near future, and lots of other videos from local badgercam extraordanaire Chris Sydes can be found here!
